Ana sayfa / Movies

The Oppenheimer vs. Barbie trend came and went, as other topics took over the headlines. Nevertheless, content related to movies continues to be produced. Among these, the most interesting one is the YouTube video where a YouTuber recreates Oppenheimer’s famous nuclear explosion scene using unexpected household objects almost exactly as in the original.

YouTuber who made Oppenheimer’s nuclear explosion effects with items from his home

During the filming process of Oppenheimer, it was revealed that British director Christopher Nolan had stated that no CGI, or effects, were used in the nuclear explosion scene. The fact that Nolan’s obsession with authenticity led to this scene being shot without any effects had excited people quite a bit.

YouTuber William H Baker managed to recreate Oppenheimer’s much-discussed nuclear explosion effects with impressive accuracy. Baker carefully analyzed the trailer to find clues about how Nolan created Oppenheimer’s chemical reactions and explosion effects. He then used light, water, long exposure photography, chemical mixtures, and a glass container to mimic the shots. Through thorough research, dedication, and utilizing household items, Baker nearly replicated Oppenheimer’s visually magnificent scene.

Barbie opens huge with $70 million, triples Oppenheimer

Barbie and Oppenheime finally hit theaters on July 21. Barbie had a huge opening with $70.5 million at the box office on its first day.

Baker beautifully depicted Oppenheimer’s poignant moment that changed the world in a cinematic way. However, as evident from Baker’s efforts, it turns out that there was no need to actually detonate a nuclear bomb to achieve this grandeur. Similarly, cinephiles could have been equally moved by this scene.

As mentioned earlier, Christopher Nolan is a director with a phobia of using CGI and strives for maximum authenticity in his scenes. This is a commendable endeavor. By the way, it’s worth noting that Oppenheimer’s budget was 100 million dollars.

Baker’s effects, both in terms of method and execution, closely resembled Nolan’s work. This video serves as proof that creative teams, if willing to invest time and effort, can achieve incredible feats with practical effects.
